Schedule a Mosaic Model Refresh
Strategy (October 2026) adds two new refresh policies, Delete existing and add new data based on filter and Delete existing data based on filter.
Starting in Strategy (September 2026), you can refresh Mosaic models with filters without an existing cube cache or full publish. You can configure a filtered scheduled refresh directly in the model without publishing, enabling the system to refresh only the required data and improve performance. For more information on the updated behavior, see Post Strategy (September 2026) Upgrade Schedule Refresh Behavior.
Prerequisite
Before scheduling a refresh, create or find an existing schedule to use as a schedule template for your Mosaic model. For more information on creating a schedule, see Create and Edit Schedules.
Schedule a Mosaic Model Refresh
-
In the left Navigation pane, click Mosaic Models.
-
Right-click your Mosaic model and click Schedule Refresh.
-
Expand the Schedule drop-down list and choose the schedule template you identified in the Prerequisite.
-
Type a Schedule Name.

Replace existing data: Overwrites existing data.
-
Add new data: Retains existing data without modifying it, and adds new data not previously included.
-
Update existing data: Updates your existing data.
-
Update existing data and add new data: Updates your existing data and adds new data not previously included.
-
Delete existing and add new data based on filter: Starting in Strategy (October 2026), removes rows that may have been deleted in the underlying source and adds new data.
-
Delete existing data based on filter: Starting in Strategy (October 2026), deletes data from a defined filter.
If no filter is added, all rows are deleted.

Click Save.
Post Strategy (September 2026) Upgrade Schedule Refresh Behavior
Strategy (September 2026) adds the ability to schedule refreshes with filters without publishing. For the first scheduled refresh of an eligible, unpublished Mosaic model, add, insert, and update policies are treated as a replace policy.
For example, if the source contains 1,000 rows, the filter selects 100 rows, and the scheduled refresh now only fetches the 100 matching rows rather than all 1,000 rows during the initial publish.
| Policy behavior for non-replace policies | Prior to Strategy (September 2026) | After Strategy (September 2026) |
|---|---|---|
|
Initial publish |
Loads 1,000 rows | Loads no data |
|
Filtered refresh |
Applies the selected policy |
Replaces the initial empty data with 100 filtered rows |
| Final model data | Retains all 1,000 rows | Contains only the 100 filtered rows |
The above behavior only applies to the first refresh when no valid cache exists. Later refreshes use the selected refresh policy as expected.
