Translation Wizard

Starting in Strategy (August 2026), you can use the Translation Wizard in Strategy's modern Workstation offerings with expanded capabilities. Use the Translation Wizard to translate object strings or to export metadata object strings (for example, names, descriptions, and embedded text) to an external file and reimport the results into your metadata repository. You can not only use the Translation Wizard workflow to translate objects into other languages, you can additionally use it to rename objects at scale, bulk-populate descriptions, and update server-store image path references embedded within metadata objects.

Use Cases

See the following use cases for the Translation Wizard:

  • Translate metadata objects in bulk: In a multicultural organization, an administrator wants to translate multiple objects at once into another language. Rather than opening the Translations tab for each object, the administrator selects the desired items and applies all translations in one interface.

  • Translate metadata object using an external translation vendor: An administrator wants to coordinate translations with an external team or vendor, the administrator exports the scoped object strings to a file, sends the file for translations, validates the returned file within Workstation, and re-imports the translations into the metadata.

  • Translate metadata objects using auto-translation: An administrator wants to produce translations for a large set of objects without manual effort or engaging an external translation vendor. The administrator selects the target objects and languages, triggers auto-translation within the wizard, reviews the generated strings in Workstation, and commits the translations directly to the metadata with no file exchange required.

  • Bulk update server-stored image paths: If you rename, restructure, or migrate your server, HTML references to the server-stored images embedded within the metadata objects become invalid. An administrator exports the relevant object strings, updates the image path references in bulk in the export file, and re-imports the corrected strings, restoring all image references across the affected objects.

  • Bulk rename objects: After undergoing a rebrand, and administrator needs to modify the name or description of hundreds of attribute or metric names. The administrator exports the relevant object names, applies the transformation in a spreadsheet externally, validates the result, and imports the modified strings.
