View Mosaic Schemas

Starting in Strategy (August 2026), you can use Workstation to view Mosaic schemas.

You can view Mosaic schemas in Workstation dekstop and Workstation for web. Strategy recommends using Workstation for web as it provides the full set of supported Mosaic schema capabilities.

Prerequisites

Saving a Mosaic Schema

  • The Mosaic model remains in its original location.

  • The objects contained in the Mosaic model (for example, attributes, base metrics, advanced metrics, tables, and folders) are saved to the path and folder name you define.

When you create a new Mosaic schema, both the Mosaic model and its extension objects are saved to the path you define.

By default, the parent folder for these objects is the Attribute folder in your project.

Browse Mosaic Schema Objects

All Mosaic models and their schema extension objects are accessible in Workstation for web. To browse the models and objects:

  1. Open Workstation.

  2. Go to the folder that contains the Mosaic schema objects.

  3. Notice the following in the Mosaic model folder:

    • The folder structure defined in Mosaic Studio is preserved.

    • Mapped attributes display as shortcuts that link directly to their source attributes.

    • Table are hidden by default.

Note the following:

  • You cannot modify, delete, or copy schema extension objects in these folders in Workstation for web.

  • You can not edit schema extension objects in Workstation for web. They can only be edited in Mosaic Studio.

  • You can move schema extension objects to other folders in Workstation for web.

Manage Mosaic Schema Objects in Schema Editor

You can view and manage Mosaic schemas in the Workstation for web Schema Editor.

To access your schemas:

  1. Open Workstation.

  2. In the Navigation pane, click Schemas.

  3. Choose your project.

  4. Mosaic models saved as schema extensions display in the table list, grouped by the Mosaic model name.

Note the following:

  • Save any schema changes in the Schema Editor before switching to edit schema extension objects in Mosaic Studio.

  • You can modify the Mosaic schema in Mosaic Studio. After saving changes in the Mosaic model:

    1. Close Mosaic Studio.

    2. Go to Workstation.

    3. In the Navigation pane, click Schemas and choose your project.

    4. Select the drop-down list next to Save and choose Save and Update Schema.

  • While Mosaic Studio is open, you can not modify other schema objects in Workstation for web.

Manage Mosaic Schema Objects in the Hierarchy Editor

All attributes are visible in the hierarchy editor in Workstation for web.

  1. Open Workstation.

  2. In the Navigation pane click Schemas.

  3. Right-click your project and choose View Hierarchy.

    Attributes from converted Mosaic models display.

  4. Manage your objects as needed. All standard hierarchy editor functionalities are supported.

    You can view the base metrics and facts related to a selected attribute in the right-hand panel.
