What's New in the Library Mobile SDK for Android

In each release, changes are made to make the Strategy SDK more powerful and easier to use.

Strategy (July 2026)

• The Strategy Library Mobile SDK for Android is certified to work with Android 17 (API level 37). When you customize Strategy Library Mobile SDK for Android, you must have Android SDK 37 to develop and compile your application. Android Studio Narwhal 3 Feature Drop and newer is supported.

• Support of embedded navigation panels in dashboards.

• Support custom threshold ranges for percentage variance in iconic KPI visualizations in dashboards.

• Library and SDK support on Android 17.

Strategy One (June 2026)

• Export dashboards and reports to Google Sheets from Library Mobile.

• Support label customization for donut visualizations on dashboards.

• Support row sets in outline mode with different formatting and filtering criteria.

MicroStrategy ONE (June 2024)

The Strategy Library Mobile SDK for Android is certified to work with Android 16 (API level 36). When you customize Strategy Library Mobile SDK for Android, you must have Android SDK 36 to develop and compile your application. Android Studio Iguana and newer is supported.

MicroStrategy ONE (March 2024)

The MicroStrategy Library Mobile SDK for Android is certified to work with Android 14 (API level 34). When you customize MicroStrategy Library Mobile SDK for Android, you must have Android SDK 34 to develop and compile your application. Android Studio Giraffe and newer is supported.

Android Push Notifications with Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM):

• Upgraded Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) API to the new HTTP V1 version, enhancing performance, reliability, and security of push notifications. For Out-of-the-Box (OOTB) Android push notification devices, this migration is seamless, requiring no user action.

The MicroStrategy Library Mobile SDK for Android is certified to work with Android 13 (API level 33). When you customize MicroStrategy Library Mobile SDK for Android, you must have Android SDK 33 to develop and compile your application. Android Studio Chipmunk and newer is supported.

• The Library Mobile SDK for Android is certified to work with Android 12 (API level 31). When you customize MicroStrategy Mobile for Android, you must have Android SDK 31 to develop and compile your application. Android Studio Bumblebee and newer is supported.

11.0

The Library Mobile SDK for Android was introduced in 11.0. This new SDK was added to the MicroStrategy Developer Library (MSDL) to help users customize the look and feel of MicroStrategy Library Mobile for Android.

• You can do the following customizations for Library Mobile on Android devices:
  • Rebrand the application.
  • Preconfigure the application.
  • Enable push notification for the application.

• If you are currently using GCM to get Android push notification, the recommendation is to modify the FCM setting in Android developer and upgrade the client version as soon as possible.

  This ensures seamless use of push notifications without interruption and allows you to take advantage of the new features in FCM right now. In 2016, Google launched Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), the successor to Google Cloud Messaging (GCM). The GCM server and client APIs are deprecated and will be removed as soon as April 11, 2019.
