Enable Google Maps Visualizations

Starting in Strategy (September 2026), you can enable Google Maps as a mapping visualization for dashboards.

Before or after you enable Google Maps, upload KML files to Workstation to add custom geographic layers to the Google Maps used in your dashboards.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the Google Maps Platform credentials page with an account that allows you to create and edit API keys.

Enable Google Maps

  1. Open the Workstation window.
  2. In the Navigation pane, click Environments.
  3. Reconnect to your environment.

  4. Right-click your environment and choose Properties.
  5. In the left pane, click Map Configuration.

  6. Toggle on Enable Google Maps as a Visualization Option.

  7. Read the Google Maps Terms of Service window carefully, then click Accept.

If you close the window or click Cancel, the setting remains disabled.

  8. Click Save.

Verify That Google Maps Visualizations Are Available

  9. In Library, log out and then log in again to load the updated configuration.

  10. Open a dashboard and add a new visualization. Google Maps should be listed as an option in the Map section.
