Upload KML Files for Google Map Visualizations
Starting in Strategy (September 2026), you can upload KML files to customize your Google Maps in Strategy. Upload KML files to Workstation to add custom geographic layers to the Google Maps used in your dashboards. You can use KML files to highlight routes and specific points of interest such as important locations or sales territories and more, based on your business needs.
Prerequisites

Download your KML file. For more information on creating Google Earth KML files, see Create a Google Earth KML file.
Add and Configure a New KML File
- Open the Workstation window.
- In the Navigation pane, click Environments.
- Right-click your environment and choose Properties.

In the Navigation pane, click Environment Settings.

In the left pane, click Map Configuration.

Click Upload KML File.

Find and select your KML file(s) and click Open.

When your upload is successful, you can add layers to your KML file configuration. Click Add Layer.

Type a Layer Name.

Expand the Shape Key drop-down list and choose a shape key imported from the KML file.

Repeat steps 9-11 as needed.

Click Save.

Click the Shapes tab.

Click Create Shape.

Type a Shape Name.

Expand the Layer drop-down list and choose a layer you defined above.

Expand the Primary Geo Role drop-down list and choose a role.

Expand the Primary Shape Key drop-down list and choose a layer key.

Optionally choose a Secondary Geo Role and Secondary Shape Key.

Click Save.

Repeat steps 14-21 as needed.

To edit or delete a shape, hover your cursor over the shape and click Edit
or Delete
.
