Explorer: Unify Access to Strategy AI

Starting in Strategy (September 2026), use Explorer to interact with all your Strategy AI, from agents to Auto Dashboard to Mosaic models--even beyond Strategy to searching online for answers. It is your central place to ask all your questions in a conversational way, and know that the answers are dependable and reliable. You can:

  • Search content: Find agents, dashboards, datasets, reports, and users.

  • Ask questions: Route business questions to an agent or dataset for data-driven answers.

  • Query data directly: Ask questions against Mosaic models, AI-enabled cubes, and datasets.

    • AI-enabled cubes include in-memory/live intelligent cubes and in-memory MTDI cubes.

    • Datasets include AI-enabled subset reports, among other types.

  • Upload and query unstructured data: Directly upload unstructured files and ask questions against the data.

    • Upload local files in the following formats: pdf, docx, md, markdown, txt, eml.

  • Create dashboards: Generate dashboards from selected data assets.

  • Generate HTML output: Turn answers and visuals into shareable HTML summaries, as described in Generate HTML Output in Explorer.

  • Draft and send emails: Create insight-based email content from conversation results and email it through Distribution Services, as described in Send Email from Explorer.

  • Search online for information: Bring in external context to enhance answers.

  • Call external tools: Act as an MCP Client to connect to MCP Servers such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub and calling these tools, as described in Use Explorer as an MCP Client to Interact with Other MCP Servers.

You can manage your connectors, uploaded files, and conversation memory for Explorer.

Interact with Strategy AI Using Explorer

Use these steps to discover what Explorer can do, rather than using them as a step-by-step procedure.

  1. In the Library sidebar, click Explorer.

  2. Select the mode for Explorer. This selection applies to all queries and tasks in the Explorer session until you change it. In the query box, select one of the following from the drop-down list:

    • If you are creating open-ended or unpredictable tasks and want AI to prioritize flexibility and exploration over speed, select Adaptive.

    • If you are creating well-defined, specific tasks and want AI to prioritize speed and efficiency over flexibility, select Planned.

    Work with Explorer Chats

  3. If you do not need to include the conversation history as context for your subsequent questions, create a new chat. In the upper right, click the Create New Chat icon .

Responses are cleared, but not the chat history.

  4. Use the Chats panel to interact with your chat history.

The Chats panel organizes your conversations. Chats are grouped into separate conversations (question and answer) instead of a single continuous thread. Chats are categorized based on time. You can quickly navigate among different chats, delete chats, and rename them for better clarity.

    • If the Chats panel is not displayed, click the Open Sidebar icon .

    • Click a chat name to display the response in the main chat panel, so you can review the information and ask for a clarification or follow up on the conversation. You can work with the chat as though you just asked the question.

    • To search for a chat, click Search in the sidebar and type the search terms. Search filters based on the chat names and the words within each chat.
    • To rename a chat to identify it, click the menu icon next to the chat name and select Rename. Type the new name over its old name and press Enter.
    • To delete a chat that you will not use again, click the menu icon next to the chat name and select Delete.
    • To delete all chats, click your user name at the bottom of the Chats panel and select Delete All Chats. This permanently deletes all chats in the history; they cannot be restored.
  5. Provide feedback on Explorer's answers:

    • To provide positive feedback, hover over the response and click the Thumbs Up icon .

    • To provide negative feedback, hover over the response and click Thumbs Down . To quickly provide general feedback to help fine tune, click the reason or reasons why Explorer did not answer your question, such as Irrelevant Data or Irrelevant Answer. To optionally provide additional details to help fine tune, type your comments in the box. Click Submit.

  6. To ask Explorer the same question again:

    1. Hover your cursor over the question and click Ask Again .
    2. The question copies to the question box. Edit the question, if necessary.
    3. Submit the question.
  7. To ask Explorer a follow-up question about an answer, hover your cursor over the answer and click Quote . The answer is copied to the query box. Type and submit your follow-up question.

    Search and Query Objects
