Create Attributes in Bulk

Starting in Strategy (October 2026), architects can simultaneously create multiple attributes using the new bulk attribute editor. The tables and columns available in the project are searched to automatically identify attribute candidates based on configurable rules. Architects can quickly generate attributes whenever a new source is connected or an existing one is expanded, improving consistency, reducing the risk of misconfigured attributes, and significantly speeding up model setup.

Create Multiple Attributes

  1. Ensure that the Mosaic schema for your new attributes is available for editing. You can unlock the schema in the Schema Editor by clicking the lock icon for the project.
  2. In the Navigation pane, click Objects.
  3. In the top right corner, click Create New Object and select Bulk Attribute Creation
  4. Bulk attribute editor opens.
  5. Starting from this point Mosaic schema is locked.

  6. Candidate columns for ID form of new attributes are pre-selected based on default set of rules. You can continue with the pre-selected columns or define rules suitable for your data source design.
  7. Define Rules

  8. Click on the Define Rules button in the top right corner of the editor.
  9. Under Column Data Type, select the data types used to define the ID columns in your data source. Only columns with data types selected here are displayed as candidate ID columns for new attributes.
  10. Under Attribute Name, define the rules to determine how the name for the attribute is created, based on the name of the column. These rules follow the most common naming convention principles for naming the ID column.
  11. Under Warehouse Search, define additional rules to determine which column should be used as the ID field and which column should be used as the description field, as well as to identify which table should be set as the lookup table based on the table name specified in the rule.
  12. Click Done to close the Define Rules dialog box and go back to bulk attribute editor.
  13. The rules are saved for future use.

    Create Simple Attributes

  14. Under Available Columns, select Attribute tab. A list of candidate columns is displayed in a table.
  15. Under Column Name, select the check boxes next to the column names you want to use to create new attributes.
  16. You can search for columns by typing their names in the Search Box.
  17. Use the View Selected toggle to display only the selected columns.
  18. When your selection is complete, click Add as Attribute. The attributes based on the selected columns are created and displayed under Attributes.
  19. Create Compound Attributes

  20. Under Available Columns select Compound Attribute. A list of candidate columns is displayed in a table.
  21. Under Column Name, select the check boxes next to column names you want to use to create a new compound attribute.
  22. Compound attribute can be created using multiple columns from one lookup table. When you select one column, the list of other available columns is automatically filtered by the lookup table of the selected column. Other columns are grayed out.

  23. You can search for columns by typing their names in the Search Box.
  24. Use the View Selected toggle to display only the selected columns.
  25. Click Add as Compound Attribute. The attribute is added to the list of attributes.
  26. Repeat these steps to create more compound attributes.

  31. To change the description column, use the drop-down menu and choose from other columns available in the lookup table.
  32. If an attribute does not need a description form, select Use ID as description. In this case only one attribute form is created.
  33. Selected lookup table is displayed under Lookup Table Name. If more than one table matches the rules for identifying the lookup table, use the drop down next to the table name and choose the correct one.
  34. For compound attributes, click Edit next to the lookup table name to display the lookup tables for all the columns used in the attribute definition.
  35. Define the Relationships
