Subscribe a Dashboard, Document, or Report to a Cache Update

In Strategy Workstation you can create cache subscriptions through Distribution Services. This subscription allows a report or document to be run as quickly as possible using the latest available data without query the data warehouse.

Cache update subscriptions refresh the cache for a document, specified report, or subset report. A cache is a pre-calculated and pre-processed result set that is stored in memory on the Intelligence server machine and on disk. This enables the report or document to be retrieved more quickly than re-executing the request against the data warehouse.

    Open the Workstation page.

  1. In the Navigation pane, click Subscriptions.
  2. Click Create New Subscription.
  3. In the Create New window, if you are connected to multiple projects, select the project from the drop-down list on the left.
  4. In Name, enter a descriptive name for the subscription.

  5. From the Type drop-down, choose Cache Update.

  6. To add content to the subscription, click in the Content pane.

  7. Expand the Schedule drop-down list and choose an existing schedule or click Add New Schedule. For information on creating schedules, see Create and Edit Schedules.

To only view schedules you own, toggle on Show my schedules only.

  8. Once the schedule is set, you can optionally specify the date when the subscription should stop by selecting the date in Expire on or Stop After and choose a Timezone, if available.

  9. You can choose to create a cache for Strategy Web/Mobile or Library (for dashboards).

  10. Click on the empty field under Generate caches for users or groups to choose the cache subscription recipients.

  11. To send a notification when the subscription executes and the cache is updated, select Send notification to user’s email when cache is updated.

  12. You can choose to Run the subscription immediately after saving.

  13. Click Save.
